Xylophones

There are many different types of melodic or tuned percussion. One of the best known is the xylophone. A xylophone is a percussion instrument that consists of a number of wooden bars that together form a scale. These wooden bars are mounted from low to high on a sound box. Xylophones are widely used in music education in primary and secondary schools. In addition, there are various other musical instruments that resemble the xylophone and are therefore often simply called xylophone. Think of the marimba, the vibraphone, the glockenspiel, the balafon and the metallophone. Many of these melodic percussion instruments can also be found in the Xylophones category for convenience.
